Abstract

This project presents the design and development of a wireless maternal-fetal monitoring system. This will allow the continuous and non-invasive monitoring of maternal health and fetal movement. This includes several physiological sensors that are integrated for the measurement of maternal heart rate, infrared-based blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and the ADXL345 accelerometer-based detection of the fetal activity. The acquired signals will be processed using MATLAB-based algorithms that analyze movement patterns, detect abnormality, and predict possible risks such as fetal distress or reduced fetal motion. An ESP8266 module has been used to provide wireless connectivity that enables the transmission of data in real-time to the ThingSpeak cloud platform for remote visualization and monitoring by health professionals. The immediate alerting at the local level during abnormal events has been implemented with a buzzer-based alert mechanism. This portable, reliable, and user-friendly system supports continuous monitoring at home, thus ensuring the safety of mothers and fetuses through intelligent, connected, and proactive healthcare management.
