Abstract

Muscle cramps are one of the most common problems faced by army personnel and athletes because of heavy physical exertion. Pain, limited mobility, and restricted performance are some of the clinical features resulting from this ailment. Most conventional rehabilitative approaches lack early detection and timely treatment. This paper introduces a smart wearable portable rehabilitation system for real-time monitoring and alleviation of muscle cramps. The aim is to offer an automated, non-invasive, and low-cost solution to muscle recovery, particularly in the case of field operations and intense training. In the proposed system, the NodeMCU microcontroller is interfaced with temperature sensing, EMG-based monitoring of muscle activity, and a controlled thermal therapy using the Peltier module, while the vibration motor is used as an optional component to enhance circulation. The system automatically identifies abnormal contractions and temperature fluctuations of the muscles and acts quickly with targeted therapy. Its novelty lies in using real-time EMG detection and automated thermal-vibration therapy together in a compact wearable platform to provide personalized and fast cramp management.
